Gordon J. Schoeffler is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana and attended St. Thomas More High School. As a youth, Gordon obtained the rank of Eagle Scout, participated in competitive swimming, and enjoyed camping, water-skiing, fishing, and hunting in south Louisiana. After high school, Gordon attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) where he was a member of the Honors Program and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Management in 2001. Growing up in Lafayette, Gordon volunteered with the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, Evangeline Area Counsel Boy Scouts, United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), and the American Legion, Post 69.

After his undergraduate studies, Gordon obtained a law degree from the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, where he graduated in 2004. During law school, in addition to his studies, Gordon was a member of Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity and clerked/interned with the law firm of Joseph Joy & Associates in Lafayette, La.

Gordon, who began practicing in 2004, is admitted to practice in all Louisiana State Courts, all U.S. District Courts in Louisiana, and the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Gordon is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, the Lafayette Bar Association, and the Federal Bar Association Lafayette/Acadiana Chapter.

Gordon regularly collaborates with Joseph Joy & Associates on many matters since beginning in 2004. Gordon has successfully tried cases in both state and federal court, and has successfully argued cases before the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeals, the Louisiana Supreme Court, and the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. While he maintains a general trial practice, Gordon focuses primarily in the areas of personal injury, maritime/offshore, professional malpractice, and environmental law.

In addition to his regular practice, Gordon has served as general counsel for the Louisiana Crawfish Producers Association- West since 2004. In 2016, Gordon served as the President of Downtown Lafayette Unlimited, a local organization which promotes professional, cultural, commercial, and recreational uses and development of the downtown area of Lafayette. Since his term as president, Gordon has remained an active board member with the organization.

Gordon is an active member of St. John’s Cathedral Catholic Church. He is also a member of his church parish’s Knights of Columbus, Council 1286, through which he regularly volunteers in various charitable and fundraising efforts for the church. He and his wife of nine years, Alison, have two beautiful daughters, Johanna and Molly Rose, whom they are raising in Lafayette. In his spare time, Gordon enjoys carpentry, hunting, fishing, skiing, music, and travel.
